Cover crops are found to improve soils in several ways- by protecting existing soil, contributing organic material and nutrients, and keeping the soil alive year-round to ensure healthy composition. All of these elements were considered in compiling this carefully chosen cover crop seed blend. There are four legumes to set nitrogen in the soil, three hardy grains for rapid cover and bio-mass, a deep-rooted radish to help break up and aerate the soil, a mustard with natural insecticidal properties, and a great collard for forage and additional biomass. This cover crop seed blend is great for either fall or spring. Recommended to till the plants in before they bear seeds. If using a no-till method, cut down (scythe, string trimmer, etc..) before the crop goes to seed. Inoculated seed. Planting rate is about 65 lbs per acre or 1 lbs will cover about 600 square feet

Perfect for Till or No-Till Applications
No need to endlessly search for the right cover crop for your garden because our Garden Cover Crop Seed Mix includes the best of all cover crops! Works for everything from small backyard gardens to large farm applications. Also ideal for no-till container gardening and / or raised bed gardening.

Till In Approach - Till the biomass under before the crop goes to seed. It is a hardy mix and many of the plants may survive the winter, so be sure to mow down and till under before they complete their life cycle and seed out.

No-Till Approach - Be sure to mow or cut down the plants before they complete their life cycle and go to seed. You can simply allow the biomass to lay on top of the soil as a mulch, or gently turn it under with a spade.

With either approach, be sure to cut down or till under a minimum or 3 to 4 weeks before plating your garden, so the biomass can begin to decompose and provide it's benefits to the soil.
