    Sowing and Growing

Direct sow fenugreek seeds in compost-enriched, well-draining soil.  Thin to 5 to 6 inches apart.  Fenugreek reaches one to two feet in height and has yellow-white flowers.  Consistent water is best.  It is possible to harvest leaves and seeds from the same plant just make sure you leave plenty of time for flowering and setting ripe seed.   You can also grow a few plants for harvesting leaves and some that you leave undisturbed for seed production.

    Harvesting

You can begin to harvest fenugreek leaves approximately 30 days from sowing.  Snip off just ⅓ of the stem so greens can continue to grow. You can harvest leaves every 15 days or so after that. To harvest seeds, allow the plant to flower and set seed.  Pull up whole plants when the small pods turn yellow.  When fully dry, open pods and gather seeds into a storable container.
